The MUT reminds SMT members that the directive issued October 2014 is still in place – i.e. that SMT members should refrain from wasting time attaching stickers to objects at their schools as instructed by the Directorate. Such labour-intensive tasks should be assigned to adequately provided support staff and not performed by SMT members.

The MUT wrote to the Director for Educational Services in Church Schools as it appears that some schools have been approached by persons from the Secretariat to perform literacy assessments. It transpires that teachers were later informed that through the results of this assessment, they are able to identify the “good from the bad” teachers. […]

Following what appears to be a way forward on the units issue, the MUT informed the MCAST Principal that it is suspending its directives until the issuing of the next payroll, following which the Union will decide whether to cancel them or to continue with reinforced directives.

Following issues of abuse towards educators at St. Patrick’s, members have informed the Union that the school took effective action in this respect. The Union therefore informed the Head of School that it is lifting its directives related to this with immediate effect.
