No health protocols for post-secondary state, church and independent schools

In the current rush to issue health protocols and implementation documents, the MUT has highlighted to the Ministry for Education and Employment that the respective authorities have forgotten the issue of health protocols for Higher Secondary, Gozo Sixth form, GEM 16+ ALP+, Church Sixth Forms and Independent Schools Sixth Forms. This is leaving a vacuum in a sector which requires health protocols and implementation documents to open its doors for students.

In the absence of a single health protocol covering the post secondary sector, which would have been the ideal solution, MCAST, ITS and the University of Malta held individual discussions with the health authorities to have their respective protocols in place. The MUT is currently holding discussions with all three institutions on their respective protocols. However this leaves the post secondary institutions as listed earlier without any health protocol. The MUT has revealed this shortcoming during the meeting held with members in these post secondary institutions and is currently in communication with the Ministry to address this situation. No health protocol and implementation measures means no physical opening of the said post secondary institutions.
