MUT asks about plans for Directorate for Lifelong Learning

The MUT wrote to the Minister for Education and Employment after it learnt through various sources that some major changes are about to occur in the coming months to the Directorate for Lifelong Learning. Since this Directorate is in charge of various courses and learning programmes that involve many Union members, the MUT asked to at least get to know some of the details of what is being planned, chief among which is that the said programmes are to be taken over by the Foundation for Educational Services. The MUT stated that it is wary of changes for many reasons, among which one can list the inexperience of FES in adult education, the limited budget and payment rates of FES which has resulted in huge turnover rates as well as the loss of experienced personnel, which in turn has arguably resulted in the degeneration of various services.
