UPDATED 10/11/2021: The situation of peripatetic, support and teachers in services
During the past days, the MUT has been involved in intensive discussions with the Ministry for Education regarding the situation of Peripatetic, Support and Teachers in services and the respective directives. The deployment exercise has now been redone and the union has followed the process in its entirety to make sure it is fair with all involved. This resulted in an amended list based on seniority. The union shall be contacting affected members to provide details.
Meanwhile, the MUT still asserts that this is just a short-term stopgap solution and its arguments about a long-term vision to address the shortage of teachers, particularly in the primary sector, still stand. Also, the MUT appeals to the Ministry to make sure it addresses the lack of organisation within its departments. Many of the problems presented at the end of September and during the month of October, which led to the directives and subsequent issues, should have been addressed back in June and July so that preparations would have been in time for the new scholastic year.
UPDATED 10/11/2021: The MUT has suspended directives and the industrial action issued following the conclusion of the process. The case is now closed and affected members have been informed. Members who have any queries or require assistance can contact the MUT through the usual channels.
