The MUT, along with other education Trade Unions across Europe who are members of ETUCE, are coming together for the campaign: Together in the Union – #ForQualityEducation. All these unions stand together to shape quality education for the benefit of all educators, education personnel, children, and learners.
The campaign, based on the project “Your Turn! Teachers for Trade Union Renewal”, was launched in the context of a global pandemic that is affecting all dimensions of the society. The education sector is not being spared: educators and other education personnel, as well as the young people, are amongst the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
But education should not pay the cost of the crisis. Funding cuts, the dominance of market mechanisms in education policy, attacks to the role and status of teachers and their unions should not frame the working lives of educators. Individualism and distrust in human solidarity should not break unity and trust in collective action.
The European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) represents 127 Education Trade Unions and 11 million teachers in all countries of Europe, 4.2 million teachers in the EU, from all levels of the education sector. ETUCE is a Social Partner in education at the EU level and a European Trade Union Federation within ETUC, the European Trade Union Confederation. ETUCE is the European Region of Education International, the global federation of teacher unions.
The MUT is a member of ETUCE.
