Press Release: Amendments to the Education Act – MUT’s initial reaction
Following the launch of the amendments to the Education Act for consultation, the MUT will be reviewing the proposed documents in detail and will be issuing its detailed position in the coming weeks. As an initial reaction, the MUT welcomes the adoption of two of its proposals:
1. The inclusion of Kindergarten Assistants and Learning Support Assistants in an amended Council for Educators, which will translate into licensing/warranting of all educators;
2. The inclusion of a provision through a newly-proposed board to address situations where educators and parents are not in agreement about educational decisions taken in the best interest of children.
The MUT encourages all educators to participate in the consultation process about the new act.
