New course by MUT on Numicon in conjunction with Inspire – Apply Now!
The MUT in conjunction with Inspire in organising a course for all educators entitled “Numicon Foundation Workshop”. The trainer will be Ms. Rosette Gatt, an expert on the topic with 20 years of experience.
The Firm Foundation Workshop is offered to school staff. It seeks to familiarize the participants with a multi-sensory scheme that was designed to teach numbers and number concepts to typically developing pre-school and primary school children. This workshop introduces the fundamental steps of the math system. Children need to recall these steps so as to be able to generalize skills required to function in real life. It offers a familiarisation process by introducing participants to numbers and the number system, pattern, calculating, assessments and records of progress, an introduction to Numicon in the nursery and Breaking Barriers (SEN). Through practical workshops, participants also become more knowledgeable about the role of the Numicon apparatus that help give numbers a visual representation.
This workshop – divided into 2 sessions – will be held on 18th and 26th November 2015 between 4pm and 6.30pm at the Inspire Learning Centre in Bulebel. The fee is €30 for MUT members and €35 for non-members paid upon registration. Deadline to apply is Friday 30th October.
