MUT registers breach of agreement with MCAST – issues ultimatum
The MUT has communicated a breach of agreement with MCAST since the college failed to issue calls for full-time Technician grades during the term of the current collective agreement and has instead issued calls for part-timers even if not stipulated in the agreement. The situation is resulting in excessive workload on technician grades in employment due to full-time vacancies which have not been covered by calls for applications. In some situations, Lecturing grades are carrying out duties which were formerly carried out by technician grades. The union has issued an ultimatum of one week to MCAST management for the situation to be addressed before resorting to industrial actions.
