(1) Following the issuing of Legal Notice yesterday, the Government announced this morning that school closure has been extended at least until the end of the Easter holidays. As things stand, the last day of the closure is Friday 17th April with schools reopening on Monday 20th April 2020.
(2) The MUT urges everyone to follow all directions by the health authorities in order to overcome the current difficult situation, which may be prolonged following the extension of schools closure announced this morning as per above. The current direction is to stay at home unless there is a valid reason to go out. The MUT has received information, however, that there are some instances in which this is not happening. Some individuals (not necessarily educators) are still holding private classes. Some SMT members are feeling obliged (even if not explicitly requested) to go to school. This is irresponsible behavior in the current circumstances – please let’s show respect towards each other for the common good and for our collective health.
The MUT will continue to inform members as soon as we have more information.
