The MUT wrote to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Education and Employment after a group of LSAs have just finished a course – with official results just published – to upgrade their qualification to the one requested for LSA2. The Union asked the government to issue a call for applications in the coming months, before October, to give the opportunity to these LSAs to be rewarded for their studies and initiative. The MUT stated that prolongation of the issue of the call would be unfair and discriminatory to these persons, especially those already on the Public Service’s books. It asked the Permanent Secretary to give priority to this issue.
In a reply, the Permanent Secretary stated that he treat with urgency and discuss this issue at once.
