Educators and Aggressive Behaviour – a survey by the Malta Union of Teachers
During the last two scholastic years there have been many serious cases of aggression on educators reported, most of which unfortunately perpetrated by parents and students. These are being treated as isolated cases by the authorities and remain hidden so as to project the idea that everything is under control. The MUT has been asserting that these cases are serious enough and that the powers that be shouldn’t wait for another case, and more victims, before implementing proper security measures and take decisions to safeguard the safety of educators. This survey is being conducted by the MUT to collect information about incidents related to aggression on educators and understand more the current situation. It is completely anonymous and the deadline is Friday 14th December 2018. Aggression is a behaviour motivated by the intent to cause harm to another person, including physical violence but also confrontations, threats and other related hostilities.
