The union notes the request received by Heads of Schools for nomination of cases to the new Board for Education Matters. Whilst the MUT has confirmed that the board has not yet been established, the union cannot accept that schools are being asked to nominate haphazardly ‘potential’ cases without any knowledge of the remit of the board. It is evident that the ministry has not even established the remit of the board and it is unacceptable to expect schools to nominate ‘potential’ cases exposing situations which may not be within the possible remit of the board. The union is directing schools to refrain from nominating cases.
