Please note that on Wednesday 22nd December the MUT will close at 2.30pm. Also, Christmas recess will be between Thursday 23rd December 2021 till Monday 3rd January 2022 both days inclusive. The Union will reopen with normal working hours as from Tuesday 4th January 2022.

The Union held a meeting with University of Malta Junior College members to update about the status of negotiations on a new Collective Agreement. Further updates shall be issued in the coming weeks.

The union is waiting for a date from MCAST to continue discussions on the new professorial grades at MCAST. Meanwhile, it is following a number of progression queries and shall be updating members directly. The MUT has also presented a request to commence negotiations for a new Collective Agreement.

The union held a meeting with members to discuss a particular request from management concerning a conference in May and expectations regarding the same. The union reached an agreement about a way forward for the participation of Lecturing grades. The MUT also updated members about the commencement of negotiations on a new Collective Agreement.

During the meeting there was a discussion about expectations of MATSEC and the respective employers from teachers and HODs regarding VET and SEAC. The Union shall be drawing a list of issues as discussed and shall be meeting employers and MATSEC to discuss the situation and to seek solutions.

The MUT has communicated a breach of agreement with MCAST since the college failed to issue calls for full-time Technician grades during the term of the current collective agreement and has instead issued calls for part-timers even if not stipulated in the agreement.
