Sick Leave Procedure for Peripatetic Staff
The MUT wrote to the DG Operations on the issue of reporting of sick leave of peripatetic staff. As discussed on various occasions, the MUT noted that peripatetic staff cannot be made to notify half the country when they need to avail themselves of sick leave. The proper procedure is that they should notify the school where they should be giving service on the day and then the College collects the information accordingly. In this light, following new overly-complicated instructions just issued in some Colleges, the Union is directing members to ignore these instructions and report to the school as per established procedure.
In a reply, the DG promised to look into the situation and agreed that such procedures should be simplified.
