The MUT welcomes the Maltese Court sentence on PSCD teaching
The MUT welcomes the decree issued by the Maltese Court which upheld the position of the Education Ministry in the case involving the refusal of parents to have their child study PSCD. The MUT has always affirmed that the National Curriculum Framework is no pick and choose but is the minimum curriculum to be taught in general compulsory education. This argument has been reaffirmed by the court in the decree which turned down the claim that a student should be exempted from PSCD when parents are not in agreement with the respective syllabus. This landmark case should set the tone for any future requests to pick and choose the education provision in schools.
