MUT concerned about filling of MCAST posts, asks for investigation
The MUT wrote to the MCAST Chairman after receiving several complaints and concerns on the way promotional posts are being filled at MCAST. The Union mentioned some examples relating to Directorships of Institutes and Heads of College and stated that it is highly concerned about the situation. It asked the Chairman’s office to set up an independent investigation board with urgency to either dispel these allegations or else to rectify the situation. Also, the Union appealed to his office and to the office of the Permanent Secretary to take urgent stock of the situation and do all that is possible to increase trust of lecturers in the institution’s administration, which at the moment is very low. In reply to this, MCAST management is denying any wrongdoing but accepted to cooperate with an investigation.
Furthermore, the MUT asked the Chairman’s office to indicate if MCAST is publishing results of interviews for Director / Deputy Director / Coordinators on an accessible notice board. If not, the Union asked whether candidates are being given the result together with a classification of candidates.
