Press Release: MUT proved right about one-size-fits-all system, hopes enough resources are granted in new agreement
In relation to the SEC Results published yesterday, the MUT notes that these are very significant results as they are the first ones from post-Junior Lyceum students. Five scholastic years down the line, the Union is being proved right about the fact that the grand expectations from the new system, which changed drastically from a selective one to comprehensive schools using a one-size-fits-all educational system without providing the necessary training and resources, were not going to give any improved results.
The MUT is currently discussing the new Sectoral Collective Agreement with the Government and it is hoped that this will include the possibility for more flexible systems. The Union hopes that space, resources and professional flexibility is given to finally grant educators to match their professional status and to reach the maximum potential of the students entrusted to them. Meanwhile the MUT thanks all educators for their hard work.
