Payment for transport supervision for LSEs – MUT raises issue with Minister
The Union has been following an issue for a number of weeks whereby LSEs who are carrying transport supervision are being paid for only one hour and not for the entire duration of the trip. This includes the time when the LSEs are required to supervise students prior to the commencement of the school day. The MUT has argued that LSEs cannot leave students who have statements of needs unattended once they are at school and that it would be highly irresponsible if no supervision is provided for these vulnerable students during this period. The MUT is therefore expecting that the respective payment for supervision to cover the entire trip and duration of supervision is issued. The MUT is already in contact with the Minister for Education and Employment on the matter and shall direct members if this issue is not solved.
