Objections about the new risk assessment document introduced without consultation
The MUT is in correspondence with the DG DES after it was informed that there is new risk assessment documentation that Health and Safety teachers are being requested to use. The said document makes reference to the ‘by when’ – a deadline for schools to carry out recommendations – which was objectionable for a number of years. In fact there is also a long-standing directive of the Union in relation to this. Furthermore there was no consultation about these changes which the MUT finds unacceptable. In view of this, the Union is requesting that adequate consultation is carried out with all concerned and that training is provided before the implementation of any changes agreed.
