Updated: Objection to letter circular DLAP 122 in State Schools

The MUT has communicated with the Education Ministry and has objected with the respective Directorate about letter circular DLAP 122 Circular – EMP (Electoral Manifesto Proposal) Survey – Citizenship Education. The MUT notes that this survey is actually an examination for students to be undertaken under examinations conditions. This exercise on the eve of assessments in schools and the tight deadline provided is being contested by the Union. Furthermore the objective of this survey and whether its outcome shall impact teaching and learning is unknown. The MUT shall be directing members unless this issue is solved.

Update on 31st May at 13.00: The MUT and the Ministry reached an agreement about the survey which may be now be conducted by students at home or at school (for those schools who would manage to have it administered during school hours). There shall also be some agreed changes to the original survey questions for protection of data.
