No MCAST lecturer should not be obliged to rewrite or build units from scratch

The Union has been informed that apparently some lecturers at MCAST are being expected to teach new units that are completely/substantially changed. It also appears that these lecturers are being asked to rewrite the course content and material accordingly, under the excuse of curricular development. The Union would like to clarify that it does not interpret curricular development as total/substantial rewriting of units or writing of completely new units. Curricular development means the strengthening and improvement of current units and material. Therefore, and given the fact that MCAST has invested substantial sums of money to contracted companies to write curricula and units, the Union would like to make it clear that no member may be obliged to rewrite units and/or build units from scratch which should be the responsibility of third entities.
