MUT condemns unprecedented action from the Secretariat for Catholic Education
Following the declaration of a trade dispute with the Secretariat for Catholic Education on the unjust deployment of two LSAs at St Angela, Zabbar, this morning the two LSAs involved started following the Union’s directive to report at this school. During the morning personnel from the Secretariat handed a letter to the two LSAs at the school containing threats that they shall not be paid their respective salaries if they do not report at the schools assigned. The MUT condemns this unprecedented action, which is a threat to legitimate trade union actions and an attempt to undermine the directions of the Union. It is not true that the Union had agreed to any restructuring including transfer of staff and the reasons provided by the Secretariat for these transfers are unjustified. Meanwhile the Union has reported the case to the Directorate of Employment and Industrial relations.
