MUT condemns aggression on teacher – appeals for action to protect educators at the workplace
The MUT condemns this morning’s aggression incident by an individual against a teacher and other educators in a secondary school. This is unacceptable behavior and is symptomatic of the situation educators are facing while carrying out their duties. Instead of being helped to address the difficulties encountered on a daily basis, educators are experiencing situations where some parents do not cooperate and instead of helping on issues related to their children, are blaming the school and educators for these issues. The MUT reiterates its appeal for safety measures in schools and is working closely with educators at the said school to give all necessary assistance. Apart from this, the MUT communicated with the Ministry to make sure all necessary steps are taken regarding this case.
