MUT asks Secretariat for Catholic Education to update promotions and progressions procedures
The MUT has contacted the Secretariat for Catholic Education after it held a meeting with MEDE in relation to situations where serving employees are appointed to another grade with the same employer. The MUT stated that changes in the PSMC earlier this year, together with changes in the sectoral/collective agreements, implied that serving officers who are promoted or appointed to new grades do not start from the first step of the scale but from a a higher point. The MUT also stated that the Ministry is already implementing this change in a number of grades and that the MUT is in discussion so that the principle is applied to all grades.
Since salaries for Church schools are provided by the State and should be the same, the MUT has requested the Secretariat to implement the same provisions accordingly. MUT has communicated with MEDE to inform them about the matter and to seek a solution.
