Health and Safety, Construction and Parking Issues at MCAST Mosta
The MUT wrote to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Education and Employment on behalf of Union members to look urgently into the situation developing near the Institute of Creative Arts (formerly IAD) building in Mosta. This particular building lies between what appears to be two construction sites, one which seems to be illegal and another one where apparently yet another supermarket is being built.
In this light, the Union asked the Ministry to look urgently into the situation with the view of coordinating with the relevant Ministries to remove any illegal constructions in the area; ensure the health and safety of students and educators and other staff alike; and arrive to a long awaited parking plan for the area which benefits both lecturers and students alike. The allegedly illegal plant is putting at risk the entire area with heavy vehicles and large machinery transiting in and out. The Union asked the Ministry to treat as urgent.
