Education Officers directed not to take directions involving MCAST
The MUT is in receipt of information showing that the Ministry acceded to a request from MCAST and ordered a number of Education Officers to carry out vetting work for MCAST. In a communication sent to the Ministry and MCAST, the MUT objected about this new practice and requested the withdrawal of the same. In a reply received from the Ministry and MCAST, the union was informed that the direction shall stand as the duty requested is within the remit of Education Officers’ duties.
To this effect, and since the MUT reiterates that Education Officers are not employees of MCAST, the union is issuing a direction to all EOs to ignore any communication received directly or indirectly involving MCAST and to refrain from acting upon any order concerning the same.
