Class size in comparison to EU averages

During the past days, various reports were published regarding the number of students per teacher. Whilst different figures and versions were reported, the source is a document known as Eurydice which issues frequent statistics about education in Europe. However, as with all statistical documents, the data is provided by the respective countries and Eurydice just reproduce it.

The MUT questions who is providing the data for Malta when it is clear that there cannot be an average teacher-per student ratio of ca. eight students when we have the majority of classes packed with students, often in breach of the minimum conditions for classroom space for schools. The average class size, when considering also small spaces which cannot accommodate more students and when considering small Gozitan schools, would be in the range of twenty students.
