Budget 2027- MUT initial reaction
The MUT Issued its initial reaction as follows:
PR- The budget offers support to families and students in the education sector but fails to mention the role of educators.
The Malta Union of Teachers notes that the government shall continue to assist families of children in post-secondary education. The assistance shall also be provided to children in alternative care to have improved access to post-secondary and tertiary education. The reduction of taxes to families is another supportive measure. The MUT notes the pledge for continued investments in school facilities, human resources and resources for students.
The MUT notes that the budget does not include any measures which strengthens the support services in education and it does not include improved wellbeing measures, which are essential in the sector.
The Union shall be waiting for the estimates to understand the way the investment is being translated in the sector in the coming days.
