Sickness verification in state schools
The Union reminds members that medical personnel attending sickness verification visits to teaching grades cannot amend personal medical certificates issued by other GPs. Members who experience these situations are asked to report the case to the Union.

Introduction of ad-hoc sick leave notification procedures in some schools
The Union is informed that some schools are introducing ad-hoc sick leave notification procedures which are not in line with established procedures in the PSMC. The Union is inviting members to provide further feedback about respective procedures in schools to address the matter accordingly.

Directive for all LSA’s in State Schools – reminder
The MUT would like to remind Learning Support Assistants in State Schools that they are directed to attend to statemented students in their charge if they are present at school and not to leave their students if they are re-assigned to take over other students due to sick-leave or other leave.

Self Evaluation of LSAs – not a requirement
The Union is informed that LSAs are being requested to carry out self evaluations and include them in their respective files. The union does not have any agreement about this document and is directing members to refrain from preparing these evaluations.

Deadline for submission of Half-Yearly examinations papers in State schools
The MUT and DQSE have renewed the agreement about the final submission date by teachers for the Half-Yearly examinations papers (2015-2016). The final submission date of half-yearly examination papers by teachers should be Friday 10th December 2015.

Transfer of INCOs
The MUT wrote to the Minister for Education and Employment after members who are currently in INCO grades informed the Union that for some unknown reason they were deployed to different school placements without any prior discussion or any seemingly valid reason. Directive for State School Heads on time-sheets
The MUT is directing all State Heads of School not to sign time-sheets of non-teaching grades. This is being done as Heads cannot verify attendance records of these staff members and also because the working hours are completely different.
