SDP committee decisions that change working practices / conditions – Attention members in all schools

The MUT is informed that in various schools SDP committees are taking decisions which might impinge on the working conditions of various education grades. As an example, this week the Union was informed that in a particular secondary school an SDP committee arrived to a decision to initiate a system of check lists for all students across all schemes of work. Members are therefore informed that SDP committees are not authorised to change working conditions, however good the decision might be, and all members may refuse to adhere to such decisions. If the school feels that it needs to implement a new procedure or a different procedure that changes working conditions and/or practices, the school should submit a proposal to the Director General / Church Secretariat / Private School Management and this is discussed with the employees representative, ergo the Union. The MUT also draws the attention of its members that changes in work procedures and conditions, voluntarily accepted, are very difficult to retract later for very obvious reasons.
