Institute for Education trade dispute update – directives from Monday 30th January
The MUT has directed all grades at IFE to initiate industrial actions from today Monday 30th January. These directives follow a trade dispute which has been declared earlier, on the failure of negotiations for a new collective agreement. This escalation has occurred since an updated financial proposal, which was supposed to provide an increase over the current financial tables, included only the cola adjustment. Instead, the new proposal increased the salary steps, lowering the entry salary of all grades. To this effect all grades at IFE are to:
– Refrain from carrying out any work for the Perm Sec-CEOs meeting occurring in February
– Refrain from communicating with any officials visiting the institute for the Perm Sec-CEOs meeting in February
– Refrain from attending any board meeting, committee meeting, staff meeting, lecturers meeting, management meeting, tenders meeting, and course coordinators meetings or any other meeting being requested.
The MUT appreciates the support of all grades in this dispute and shall be updating members about developments. The MUT shall protect all grades at IFE following industrial actions.
