Misinformation regarding the new LSE3 grade
The MUT notes the circulation of misinformation (intentional or otherwise) about the new grade of LSE3. The Union would like to clarify that this is a new grade emerging from the new Sectoral Agreement whereby:
1. The new LSE3 grade is pegged at salary scales 10 and 9, meaning that LSEs shall now have the possibility to enter a new salary scale (9) which has been traditionally a scale of teachers.
2. Supply LSEs at scale 15 and who are eligible to progress to the regular grade of LSE3 following an interview shall start at scale 10, followed by scale 9 after 5 years as LSE3. Class allowance and works resources shall be issued according to the new grade of LSE3 and the respective scale.
3. LSE1 at scales 15, 14 or 13 and who are eligible to progress to the grade of LSE3 (no interview required) shall start at scale 10 followed by scale 9 after 5 years as LSE3. Class allowance and works resources shall increase according to the new grade of LSE3 and the respective scale.
4. LSE2 at scales 12 or 10 who are eligible to progress to the grade of LSE3 (no interview required) shall start immediately at scale 10. However there is a new mechanism – every 4 years in the grade of LSE2 shall result in a deduction of 1 year for progression into Salary Scale 9. Class allowance and works resources shall increase according to the new grade of LSE3 and the respective scale.
