Issues related to the 20 years of service allowance in the new Sectoral Agreement
The MUT has been receiving many requests for information from members in relation to this allowance and has, in the past weeks, been in constant discussion with the Ministry for Education and Employment to make its case according to the spirit of the negotiations. The allowance agreed on during the final days of negotiations is the difference between scale 7 and scale 6 so that teachers performing teaching duties in Salary Scale 7 with twenty calendar years or more service will continue to progress in their financial package so that they reach the equivalent amount to that of scale 6. The Union has now been informed that issues discussed are now being deliberated by the Office of the Prime Minister. The Union will continue to follow this issue closely and report to MUT members once there is an update.
