Directives for Ħamrun Senior School (ex Liceo) – industrial action to follow if situation not improved by end of week
The MUT wrote to the DG DES Designate about the St Ġorġ Preca Senior School Ħamrun (ex Liċeo). It stated that since the situation at this school seems to be getting worse once again, partly because of measures taken and other not taken, the Union is ordering the following directives as from Thursday 16th March 2017:
a. All members of the Union are to refrain from teaching classes where there are students without the official uniform. In such cases educators, including LSAs, are to go back to the staff room and inform the SMT they are following a Union directive;
b. All members of the Union are to refuse to engage in classes where there is student J Psaila until proper disciplinary action is taken against him;
c. Persons assisting in supervising corridors voluntarily should not supervise if there isn’t the Head of School or one of the Assistant Heads present.
The Union concluded that if the situation is not drastically improved by Friday, the Union Council will be meeting early next week to reactivate the currently suspended industrial action. The MUT will also be sending the DG DES a number of reports received on what is going on at this school.
