The MUT calls for a discussion on an updated security protocol in schools
The MUT has pushed for increased security in schools for several years and this led to the introduction of security personnel in State Schools in 2020. The new sectoral agreement signed in 2024 also provides for a review of the security protocol in schools and the Union has just communicated with the Education Ministry to initiate this process. This shall be done through an evaluation of the current security provision and protocol, an evaluation of the current security services and a discussion on new measures and security protocols to be introduced in schools. Any knee jerk decisions will not have any long term effect as this process requires discussion and a long-standing strategy to be effective. The union is looking forward to the initiation and conclusion of this process and shall continue to support educators and students.
