Termination of five LSAs in a Church school – less qualified persons employed instead
The MUT wrote to a Church School and to the Archbishop’s Secretariat for Catholic Education to contest the termination of five LSAs at this school. The Union stated that it is informed that following an interview process for LSAs carried out by this school in the past weeks, the school then informed five LSA that their employment is being terminated. The reason provided was the ranking of the interview. The Union is also informed that whilst all LSAs dismissed are currently concluding the 20-week course and were rendering a good service, the selected LSAs set to replace these five LSAs are less qualified, with some of them not even having the 10-week course. The Union contested this dismissal and raised questions about the selection process conducted.
The MUT concluded that all measures within its parameters will be taken to ensure that any malpractices are stopped.
