MUT will not support decision on NQT mentors course if not consulted
The MUT is in correspondence with the Ministry for Education and Employment in relation to the course for NQT mentors, whereby training will be provided to SMT members regarding NQT mentoring. The Union discussed at length this issue and tried to reach an agreement about this mentoring duty but it was now informed that MEDE could not continue to discuss the matter as it is now in the hand of the Office of the Prime Minister in view of a proposal for the Public Service. The MUT is therefore stating that it will not support any decision taken without consultation and will issue directives if the initiative is announced in breach of agreement.
