Directive to ignore Circular on Redecorating of Classrooms for the General Elections
The MUT wrote once again to the Permanent Secretary and the DG DES at the Ministry for Education and Employment about issues related to setting up for General Elections in Primary School classrooms. Educators are now being ordered to remove all the resources from the walls of their classrooms and to set it up as per circular issued to all Principals and Heads of Schools. The MUT does not agree with this decision as it believes that the Electoral Commission, if it doesn’t want class resources to be visible, should get its own personnel to cover them up instead of just dumping the problem on educators. In view of this, the Union is directing all members to ignore the Circular. This directive has also been issued before the last general election following which the requested tasks were carried out by personnel engaged by the Electoral Commission.
