Clarification on Special Leave and Unpaid Leave
The MUT would like to clarify that unpaid leave should only be granted when requested by the personnel needing it as per Public Service Management Code (PSMC). This follows the flagging of a breach of agreement by the MUT with the Directorate for Educational Services after some schools were implementing a measure not stipulated in any agreement to allocate one day special leave followed by a day of unpaid leave for personnel who request two consecutive days of leave. The DES, in a reply, stated that it is communicating with Heads of School accordingly.
