New course by MUT on Autism Spectrum in conjuction with Inspire – Apply Now!
The MUT in conjunction with Inspire in organising a course for all educators entitled “Understanding children on the Autism Spectrum (ASD)“. The trainer will be Ms. Doreen Mercieca, an expert on the topic with 25 years of experience. The course will be divided as follows:
Part 1: An introduction to autism spectrum disorders: an overview of autism in order to enhance one’s understanding of the condition and its impact on individuals affected by this condition.
Part 2: The importance of visual and physical structure for students on the autism spectrum: basic knowledge regarding the theory behind the use of structured teaching and the importance of the practical use of structure as a tool when working with students on the autism spectrum.
Part 3: Dealing with behaviour that challenges us: basic knowledge and skills regarding the practical strategies that may be implemented when dealing with challenging behaviour.
These sessions will be held on 14th, 21st and 28th October 2015 respectively between 4pm and 6pm at the MUT in Valletta. The fee is €36 for MUT members and €45 for non-members paid upon registration.
