Update on the working groups for the sectoral/collective agreements
The MUT is concluding the cycle of meetings to discuss feedback on proposals for the new sectoral/collective agreement being negotiated between the MUT and the Education Ministry, and in parallel with the Church authorities. The agreements cover the following grades: Teachers, HODs, LSEs, KGEs, AH, EOs. HOS and a number of other grades. These discussions are enabling the MUT to obtain direct feedback from the working groups on proposals presented to the Union by members during consultation processes. It is being clarified that nothing is cast in stone and none of the proposals are being discarded. In some instances working groups favored one proposal over another but it is the duty of the MUT to reflect the feedback of its entire membership in negotiations. Hence, whilst the Union shall continue discussing proposals both internally and also with the Education Ministry/Church authorities, the MUT shall only decide about any changes to the sectoral/collective agreement after seeking approval from affected members.
