Masks in schools
The MUT notes that the government shall be commissioning a study regarding the use of/removal of masks in schools. Whilst the union is not against any study, it is pertinent to note that COVID-19 mitigation measures which have been applied in schools followed the national mitigation measures taken in the community. The MUT hopes that the government shall not bow to pressures to have masks removed in schools whilst they are being worn elsewhere. The MUT reminds that schools remained open during the past scholastic year thanks to the rigidity in the application of protocols. The MUT shall oppose strongly if mitigation measures are laxed in schools whilst they are kept in the community. Educators and students require maximum protective measures for schools to remain open.
