Clarification on Special Leave in State and Church Schools
The MUT is issuing these clarifications on Special Leave following feedback received from members. The computation of Special Leave shall be according to the actual duration of the absence from work including the 10 minutes non-contact time. The mandatory signing 10 minutes before the official school opening time is being compensated in the following ways: the removal of three inset days in July or September (at 4h each), the removal of the 3 PD sessions after school hours (at 2h each), Special leave added from 27.5h to 31.25h and two additional holidays for teaching grades during the scholastic year. They therefore have to be included when Special Leave is taken at the beginning of the day. In the case of a full day special leave, it depends on the length of the actual working day including the 10 minutes.
The Union is following a number of issues regarding the allocation of Special Leave and will be issuing clarifications accordingly.
