The MUT has been in discussion with MEDE after MEDE proposed the collection of tablets of Year 6 students at the end of this scholastic year. This exercise is being carried out due to a delay in the procurement of new tablets to Year 4 students. MEDE is planning to give the old tablets who were used by students for three years to year 4 students next scholastic year. Whilst this is highly objectionable, as year 4 students do not deserve to have obsolete devices, the MUT has objected with the proposed collection of tablets by SMT at this stage and instead proposed that tablets are collected at the start of the next scholastic year. However it is now evident that MEDE is proceeding with its plans, leaving the MUT with no option but to issue directives to members. SMT members in all schools are being directed to refrain from co-ordinating or participating in the collection of tablets.
